"Work at Home" Business work for you

Tips for making your "Work at Home" Business work for you.

After a careful thinking and spending hours and days together
on the net, you have finally chosen your work at home opportunity
and you look forward for a fast income from your business.
But to your dismay, you are not able to find that much success,
as you had imagined.

One of the main reasons could be that you were not contributing
your time and concentration as you had planned earlier. When you
do a self assessment you will find that you had not taken your
home business as serious as you had thought.

Why?

Most often the reply to this question would be that you had
too many distractions from your work since it was just
at home only. As you had no boss to report about your work,
you took it at ease. You find time for everything else at home,
but not for your business. You thought now your online
business would run on its own.

You are wrong. You should set up a proper time to make
your home business a success.

I have found the following tips helpful to me.

1. Keep away from distractions. I choose a time where less
distractions are expected and I have informed my friends
and relatives also accordingly. So they know I will be busy
with my work on the computer and many of them avoid calling
me during that time unless it is urgent.

2. Before switching on my computer itself I will plan what I am
going to do today for my business. Only then I will look
at other offers waiting for my attention in my mail box. After
finishing my regular promotion job, I will take up my
other things. Otherwise my work will get neglected and
I get distracted to other hype opportunities.

3. I will switch off the television when I am working at home.
Otherwise without my knowledge my attention will be
diverted to the TV program.

4. When I am doing something very serious which requires more
attention such as making an online transaction etc,
I will either switch off the mobile or at least
leave it in silent mode, so that I won't get distracted
if it happens to ring during that time.

If you take care of the distracting factors affecting
your business, you will find that you can make your
work at home business work for you in a more successful way.

Search Engines and Pay-Per-Click

What Should You Know About Search Engines and Pay-Per-Click?

Here’s a fact for you, 85 to 95% of Websites are found through a search engine. You may have the most incredible Website on the Internet, but it will receive little or no traffic without search engine visibility and ranking. Can you imagine a billboard in the Sahara desert? Who sees it?

So, how will searchers find your website? What types of search engines could they use?

Search engines fall into two categories. The first is referred to as natural, organic or standard. The second is called pay-per-click, paid inclusion or paid placement.

Natural, organic and standard are interchangeable terms describing a search engine that bases its search rankings on a ranking algorithm. The algorithms involve a number of criteria and parameters, all relating to the content of the website, the website’s size, the number of incoming links to the website, and the content’s relevancy. You will hear terms such as keyword relevancy and keyword density to describe various components of the algorithms.

For the standard search engines, you, your webmaster or hired search engine optimization specialist could spend considerable time optimizing your website to achieve top rankings. The goal is for your website to appear on the first or second page of the search engines’ results when your target user searches keywords or keyword phrases.

The good news is rankings on standard search engines are free. The downside is the tremendous amount of time and effort required to achieve exceptional search engine rankings. Let’s confess to each other that top rankings on standard search engines can be tough and timely to achieve!

The interchangeable terms pay-per-click, paid inclusion or paid placement describe a search engine that bases its search rankings on a "bid for position" basis. Simply stated, you "bid" a price to be in a specific position of the search rankings for a particular search keyword or keyword phrase. For example, the #1 position on the search phrase "pay per click" recently required a bid of $3.55 per click, whereas the 15th position required only a bid of 55 cents. As a result, your differential website advertising costs between position #1 and #15 can be considerable.

With pay-per-click search engines, your ability to bid high can dramatically impact your website's search engine ranking when the search results display website domain names or URL's for the search keyword or keyword phrase. The benefit is your website gains visibility with the searcher, but you are not charged the pay-per-click "bid" until a searcher actually clicks on your website domain name or URL displayed in the search engine results. The selection of your website in the search engine results is called a click-through.

In general, click-through rates range from 1% to 5% of the number of impressions. What is all of this? A click is when a searcher selects or "clicks" your pay-per-click ad. An impression is one display of your pay-per-click ad on the search engine results. So, the click-through rate is a measure of the total number of ad clicks versus the total number of impressions in a period of time:

Click-Through Rate % = Total Number of Ad Clicks / Total Number of Ad Impressions * 100

Let's do the math for our #1 position bid of $3.55 per click. In September, 2004 there were 21,535 searches for "pay per click." First, let’s assume a 1% click-through rate. The top bidder spent $764.49 (21,535 * 1% * $3.55). Now, at a 5% click-through rate the top bidder spent $3,822.45 (21,535 * 5% * $3.55). Budgeting and controlling marketing expenses with such a broad range of potential costs could be tough. Plus, such costs could be the tip of the iceberg. We still must consider derivatives of the keyword or keyword phrase. So, was being #1 worthwhile? That depends on your website’s cost per visitor, conversion rate and profit margin of your product or service.

From what we’ve covered so far, you should realize you can achieve a top or high ranking through the pay-per-click search engine. But, a high ranking will cost money and these costs can be volatile. Meanwhile, the standard search engine remains free.

However, pay-per-click offers one significant advantage. It enables you to achieve website visibility with a high ranking instantaneously or overnight. If you want to draw traffic to your website fast for any reason, pay-per-click can make that happen. Remember, maximizing the standard search engine process takes time!

Let’s summarize the pros and cons of pay-per-click marketing:

Pros

* Improves your website’s ranking and traffic quickly.
* Tests the marketability of your product or service swiftly.
* Determines the ability of your web site to convert visitors to a call to action or make a purchase promptly.
* Identifies which keyword phrases will provide the best conversion rate rapidly.
* Provides complete control of the search engine campaign, both position and cost.

Cons

* Cost

Many individuals criticize pay-per-click because of the costs involved. But, have you really thought about the cost issue? Unless you or someone in your organization has expertise in search engine optimization, you’ll probably pay several thousand dollars in fees to a search engine optimization specialist to improve and optimize your website to achieve higher rankings in the standard search engines. So, my question to you is. Are the standard search engine rankings really free?

At the end of the standard versus pay-per-click search engine debate, it’s like the old saying, “There is no such thing as a free lunch.” Or, it’s like the old commercial, “You can pay me now or you can pay me later.” The reality of the debate is you must evaluate your specific website situation and utilize the search engine approach that maximizes your website promotion goals and investment.

What is a Blog?

What is a Blog? In Plain English Please.

If you are fairly new to the Internet, you have probably heard the word “Blog” flying around. But what is a blog? How does it work? And how can I use it on my website? These are all good questions, which I hope to answer for you.

What is a Blog?

A blog, in simplest terms, is a daily journal of your thoughts that is maintained by a blogger (which would be you) on the web. When posting to a blog you will notice that it is arranged in chronological order – with the most recent additions on top.

You can choose to allow your readers to add their own comments/feedback to any issues you may have addressed on your blog. Or, you can add audio to your blog. Pretty neat, isn’t it. What a great way to have contact with your customers.

Can it be used on my website?

Can it be used on my website? Definitely. It can be a great tool for you and your contacts. However, I personally feel that it would be a greater benefit to the established website that has a following. In other words, start with a newsletter first, to build your mailing list, than go for the blog.

If you have a following, than go for it. Don’t want to pay for it? That’s okay, you can go to www.blogger.com, they have a great tutorial and the blog is free.

What can it do for my website?

I see many inventive uses for a website that is based on content. Such as:

1.Strong communication tool – a form of contact with your customer.
2.Allow you to get to know your customers and their wants, as well as, allowing your customers to know you.
3.Can provide daily, quality content – which will pull the search engines and thus, increase your traffic.
4.Use it to advertise your links. Taking a conservative approach, and blend it in to the topic.
5.Use it to answer inquiries that people may have.
6.Use it to inform.

As you can see, the list can be endless. But I do see only one slight drawback for those who do not want to keep a constant vigil over their website – and that is maintaining the blog. The blog should be maintained on a regular basis. Why? People get bored, and on the Internet, it’s very easy to click their boredom away. Thus, keep yourself enlightened and it should keep them enlightened.

If you find this small drawback inconsequential – then go blogging.

To your success.

Reasons Marketers Should Blog

The 6 Top Reasons Marketers Should Blog

If there is a downside to blogging, I have yet to find it. The
more you learn about blogging, the more there is to like.

In fact, here are 6 mouth-watering reasons why every marketer
should be blogging:

1- Fast Search Engine Spidering and Indexing of Your Site:

Did you know that Google owns the most popular blogging platform
on the planet? Blogger at http://www.blogger.com is used to
produce thousands of blogs. Even a complete internet newbie can
set up a blog in about 5 minutes at Blogger. And guess who can be
counted on to come by and quickly spider all those new blog posts
as they are written?

Yahoo is also embracing blogs and feeds in a big way. Savvy
marketers know that adding their blogs and feeds to their MyYahoo
page can bring the Yahoo spider to their site almost immediately.

One of the reasons that blogs get spidered so quickly is that
most of them produce a feed. Many blogs automatically "ping" (or
notify) some of the large sites that carry these feeds and make
them available for syndication. Search engines spider these sites
many times a day. Blogger, for instance, pings Weblogs every time
you make a post. You can also "ping" a free site called
Pingomatic (http://www.pingomatic.com) every time you add a new
blog post. Your ping will notify Yahoo and 11 other large feed
sites that you've added a post. If it only were so easy to get
Google to notice new pages on regular sites!

If you have a new site that you are having trouble getting
indexed, adding a blog or RSS feed is one of the quickest ways to
get the spiders to come calling.

2-Blogs can Build Your Backlinks Quickly:

If you've spent time trying to get reciprocal links to your site,
you know how frustrating, boring, and time-consuming it can be.
I've long considered reciprocal link building to be one of the
worst ways to develop link popularity. Many SEO experts consider
one-way links to be far more effective.

A blog can build one-way links to your site fast. If you've just
started a blog, you should submit it to the large blog and feed
directories. Here is a list of the Top 55:

http://www.masternewmedia.org/rss/top55/

Once you've submitted your blog to these directories, you'll find
your backlinks growing quickly. This past year, more webmasters
are using RSS feeds on their sites to keep their sites fresh and
spidered frequently. Software applications such as RSS Equalizer,
Express RSS, and CARP make this easy.

After starting my first blog, I was amazed at how many different
sites carried my feed with a link back to my site! These links
can multiply exponentially over time.

Now tell me something. Wouldn't you rather be spending your time
adding content to your site than trying to get questionable
reciprocal links? Especially when it doesn't take any extra time?

3-A Frequently Updated Blog will Keep the Spiders Visiting Your
Site Often:

Most of us are aware that the search engines like sites that are
updated frequently. If you have your blog set up correctly, every
post will update several pages of your site. Then pinging Yahoo
and the blog and feed directories at Pingomatic can bring out the
spiders in just a few hours. This is a great way to get new pages
of your site indexed quickly and frequently.

4-Your Site is Stickier and More Appealing to Visitors:

A blog on your site is an easy way to keep your site updated on a
regular basis. The upside is that visitors will come by more
often. If they find your blog interesting and informative, they
may bookmark your site. That means you have a much greater chance
of making sales. And you have a ready-made audience for any new
products you launch.

A blog can also add a human face to your website that potential
customers will trust and respond to. Most marketers know that
people buy from people they like and respect. A well-written blog
is a great way to build a relationship with your visitors.

5-A Blog Is The Fastest And Easiest Way To Build A Brand-New
Website Without Training:

Even a 10 year old could set up a blog at Blogger.com and be
blogging almost immediately. No HTML knowledge is necessary. You
don't need to know how to FTP. You don't need to know how to link
the pages in your site together. All you have to do is type in
your post and click on the "publish" button. And yet you can
still set up an attractive, spiderable site in record time.

Blogs can be used for any type of site, not just for online ezine
delivery or a place to announce new products. Using a blog you
could quickly build a niche site. Just research the best keywords
for your niche. Then write articles around those keywords and
post them to your blog. Include your keywords in your title. You
now have an instant niche site that will be spidered quickly and
be easy to maintain.

6-Keyword competition in RSS feed sites is much less than in the
SE's:

Google, Yahoo, and MSN each have many millions of webpages in
their indexes. It can be almost impossible to get top rankings
for competitive keywords if you don't have a high PR site with
lots of backlinks.

It's a completely different story at the RSS feed sites. The
competition for many high-competition keywords is almost
nonexistent. Setting up a blog in some of these high-competition
niches is a good way to successfully compete.

Marketers spend a lot of time and money getting traffic to their
sites, creating backlinks, getting good SE rankings, and building
relationships with their customers. A blog can improve your
results in all those areas. There aren't very many free marketing
techniques that can make that claim!

How To Build Traffic To Your Blog

How To Build Traffic To Your Blog

With the growing interest in blogging as a means of online promotion and branding, a lot of marketers are starting blogs to promote their opinions, products, books and services.

But a blog is like a website. "Write and they will come" isn't exactly a magic formula to bring in traffic by the boatload.

If you need to promote your website in order to build traffic to it, you need to promote your blog as well.

Here are some ways you can become a well-read and influential blogger.

1. Write Posts That People Will Want To Read

This should be common sense, but many marketers tend to forget that their readers are real people and that you need to use the principles of online copywriting to make your headlines and copy interesting to your readers.

If you write posts that people enjoy reading, they will reward you by returning to your blog regularly.

Make your posts conversational, pithy and topical. Keep them short and stick to one topic per post.

Write often and regularly so that both readers and search engines visit your blog more often.

2. Optimize Your Posts for Search Engines

I cover this topic in detail in my article on "Search Engine Optimization For Blogs" http://www.blog-maniac.com/blog-seo.htm

But here are the most important rules to follow to get your posts listed for keywords of your choice.

* Make sure your blog URL contains the primary keyword you want to optimize for

* Use your primary keywords in the title of your post

* Use your secondary keywords in the body of your post

* Use your keywords in the anchor text of links in the body of your posts

3. Submit Your Blog and RSS Feed To Directories

If you publish a blog you should submit your blog and RSS feed to big directories like Yahoo and Dmoz, as well as the numerous blog directories and search engines.

Here is the best list I've found of places to submit your feed or blog, compiled by Luigi Canali De Rossi, who writes under the pseudonym Robin Good.

Best Blog Directory And RSS Submission Sites

4. Ping The Blog Services

There are a number of services designed specifically for tracking and connecting blogs. By sending a small ping to each service you let them know you've updated your blog so they can come check you out.

Bookmark the Ping-O-Matic ping results page so you can visit it and quickly ping a number of services with a single click.

5. Build Links To Your Blog

I recommend the methods here as the best ways to get links pointing to your blog

* Link to your blog from each page on your main website

* Trackback to other blogs in your posts

* Post legitimate comments on other blogs with related topics

* Offer to exchange links with other similarly themed blogs and websites

6. Edit Your Blog Posts Into Articles

One of the best methods for promoting your website is to write articles and submit them to article directories.

The suggestion for extending this to edit your blog posts into articles and submit them to directories came from the coach at "Explode Blog Traffic" who also has other noteworthy suggestions at his blog here.
http://bloghit.blogspot.com/2004/11/how-to-explode-blog-traffic.html

You'll find an extensive list of article directories here
http://ebizwhiz-publishing.com/write-articles/submit-articles.htm

7. Create Buzz About Your Blog

Creating a buzz about your blog posts and topic in the local and online media will give your marketing a viral component.

* Create a controversy around your blog or it's topic.

* Distribute bumper stickers or other merchandise with your blog's URL and tagline.

* Write a press release about something newsworthy and tie it in with your blog topic.

8. Capture Subscribers By Email

It may seem strange for a blogger to send out updates by email, but email is still the #1 choice of most people who want to receive news and information.

Using a free service like Bloglet to manage your subscriptions is easy and it allows your subscribers to manage all their subscriptions from one interface. http://www.bloglet.com

However, if you want more control over your list and don't mind mailing out the updates yourself, you can use an autoresponder system to capture and follow-up with subscribers.

RSS responder is a new script that allows you to keep in touch and follow-up with your subscribers without the hassle of email. http://ebizwhiz-publishing.com/rssresponder.htm

These tips should give you a good start to building your blog traffic.

The reasons people want a home business

The reasons people want a home business

The reason people want a 'Home business'

The rising cost of living with the average wage not keeping pace is forcing members of the work force to find other sources of income.
It is becoming more necessary every day for both husbands and wives to have work.
This trend, if the couple has children, turns the children into 'latch key kids', if they are old enough, or forces the parents to put them into 'day care' or some 'after school' program to be watched until one of the parents can pick them up.
Many employers have cut benefits, and have reduced the amount of employees due to the costs, and are not giving our raises as quickly as they should, even to keep up with the cost of living. In fact, many are expanding the scopes of work with no compenstaion.
The average time on spends on searching for new work, or additional work, has lengthened.
This has caused a huge jump in those people seeking to work from home, on their computers, using the internet as their main source of promotion.

The problem with this is most do not know what it takes to run a business, either on or off line.
There is no magic equation that will change your life style over night and the internet is just another resource for the off line business world to make additional sales.
Just getting your business listed in the local phone book will not make thousands of new customers enter your store. Nor will getting a good search engine placement, or a great product listed on the internet guarantee the same to your website.
You will have to do follow up calls, follow up e-mails, snail mail and hit the streets ,as they say to get your business cards out to your potential clients.

This will take time and the determination over a period of time to accomplish.

ON THE AVERAGE IT WILL TAKE AT LEAST TWO YEARS BEFORE YOU WILL MAKE ENOUGH ,IF ANY, PROFIT FROM ANY BUSINESS.

Either way, the chances of failing far out weigh the chances of success. Most will not make it their first, second or third time, but if they stick with it and learn from their mistakes they will.

Reasons for failure:
The first reason they will not make it is because they will blame everyone but themselves when things do not go right or happen as fast as they think it should.
The second reason is they do not spend the time or effort into working their business.

The third reason is they do not take the time to 'learn the trade' before they jump into the first opportunity they come across. They don't know their products well enough to answer questions nor how to train others to duplicate their success.
Those are the facts.

The solutions:
Treat your on line business as a real business.
File a business statement in your local newspaper and get the required permits from your local area, if one is required. This will often open your business venture up for loans and help from the SBA.
Report income to the correct agencies, or even the lack of income to them for tax reasons. You will be able to deduct your home business expenses from your taxes, if allowed ( but always follow the advice of your tax person in this matter).
Believe in yourself and your product. Know the products benefits inside and out.
Get trained by your partnership alliance contact, owner, etc.
Get business cards, make brochures and give them away to everyone you meet or know.
Stay informed and become aware of how things work.

Internet business:

Understand what the internet is and how it works, what it can and can not do for you.
Keep things in perspective at all times, and do not believe all the hype or gossip you may hear or read about on the internet.

Home Based Internet Business

11 Success Tips to Home Based Internet Business

Let's face it everyone wants to succeed with their home based internet business ? But what does it takes to really succeed in cyberspace ?

1. Your first ultimate start must include written goals and plans. Formulate a plan of weekly activity and be persistent in following it—if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Sticking to your plan is essential for success.

2.Don't wait for everything to be exactly right to start...THERE WILL NEVER BE A "PERFECT" TIME! Start now, with whatever you have. The things you need will come to you as you work toward your goal. You cannot become successful in anything when you're trying to do too many things at once.

3. Treat your business as a serious, full-time business, and it will become one. Think of your first six months primarily as a training period. Don't expect large earnings until after you've educated yourself.

4. Be patient. You'll work the hardest your first six months or so and get compensated the least. Big incomes never happen overnight. They only come after you've properly shown your affiliates how to duplicate your efforts. Always be ENTHUSIASTIC!! Don't give yourself unrealistic expectations.

5. Don't complain to your upline leaders. Realize that what you accomplish is mainly in your hands, no one else's. Also realize that, when you see a problem, 95% of the time there are factors you are unaware of. Don't jump to conclusions. When you have a problem, present it in a concise letter as positive, constructive criticism. Offer solutions if possible, too. Not only will this approach get you better results, but you'll be building your relationship with your upline instead of tearing it down.

6. Be organized, but don't allow the act of organizing keep you from the most important element of a successful business: MARKETING. Market and promote your business EVERY DAY! Don't let little problems upset you. Concentrate on the many positives...and the "big picture."

7. Always remember that the only thing that will never change is that there will always be changes. Don't let changes upset you. Know that you will have to deal with changes and other obstacles, both big and small, continually. Be prepared to be flexible.

8. Don't be a negative thinker and don't let the negative attitudes of others (even if they're family members, friends, or peers) influence you. All the great men and women in history had to overcome the naysayers who said it couldn't be done—and then went out and did it. Think for yourself!

9. Don't be derailed by "perfection paralysis." Realize that you won't be able to do everything perfectly. Do the best job you can, then move on to the next project. Keep learning and keep moving ahead.

10. Read books (such as Napoleon Hill's classic, "Think And Grow Rich") that will convince you how powerful your mind really is. Develop the tremendous potential in you (that we all have) that has never been tapped!

11. Don't quit. The only way to fail is if you give up. Remember always..."You are what you think you are."

Home Business on a Budget

Starting a Home Business on a Budget

Have you ever dreamed of starting your own business? Have you wondered what it would be like to get up every morning and be in control of your financial destiny without having to depend on a job? Perhaps you enjoy your job and you simply want to start a part-time business from home to supplement your income but the problem is you have very little extra money to invest in a new venture.

If this is your dream then now is the time. Never before in history has there been a better time to start a home business and this is especially true for those on a limited budget. Why is this so? The answer is simple. The World Wide Web. The Internet has enabled hundreds of thousands of people to start home businesses working from home with very little start up cash. It is now possible for individuals working from home in their pajamas to start businesses and compete in the global marketplace on the same playing field as large corporations. Anyone with a service or something to sell can build a website and using the available and often free tools on the Internet be in business almost instantly.

Setting up an Internet home business usually has much lower start up costs than the traditional brick and mortar alternative. With a traditional business there are significant overhead expenses which are usually due even before you can start making money. These expenses include: rent for office or store space, inventory to stock your store if you are planning to sell retail products, advertising, liability insurance, and the list goes on. In fact it can costs thousands

Starting an internet business has much lower start up costs because your store is in cyberspace and your office is in your home. You can find numerous low costs options for building websites online as well as suppliers who will ship your products to your customers as they are purchased instead of storing huge amounts of products which is expensive and takes up storage space

One of the best ways to get started on a low budget is by selling products on eBay. Millions of people are shopping on eBay every single day looking for just about every kind of product you can imagine. One of the reasons eBay is such a great place to start a home business on a budget is because the traffic is already there. Ebay has already done the advertising and all you need to do is show up and post your products. If you were to build your own website you would need to market your site and buyers would need to find it before they could buy from you. Secondly, eBay has taken the expense and difficulty out of building an Internet store. For a low monthly fee you can build an Internet store on eBay complete with your own logo and a shopping cart system. This is actually very similar to setting up shop in a mall in the brick and mortar world.

Another low cost way to make money on the Internet is through affiliate programs. Affiliate programs allow you to make money by placing links on your site to other websites and each time someone clicks through to the website you are an affiliate for you make money. If you have a website this is one of the easiest ways to add revenue to your current income. Many Internet retailers have affiliate programs.

There are many other opportunities on the Internet for starting your own home business. It is recommended that you take some time to research the various options but be careful of scams. If you do an Internet search on topics such as “home business” or “work at home” you are likely to find a lot of good information but you will also find many scams that promise riches only to take your money and leave you with nothing to show for it. The best tip for avoiding scams on the Internet is the old saying, “If it sounds too good to be true – it probably is.”

Whatever type of business you decide to start on the Internet it is important that you treat your business like a business. Above all, find something that interests you and that you will be passionate about and you can be successful beyond your wildest dreams.

How to Build a Niche Site With a Blog

How to Build a Niche Site With a Blog

Building niche sites is all the rage these days.

The basic strategy is very simple. Find a niche market that isn't oversaturated. Develop a list of related keywords people are searching on. Then write an article optimized for each one of your keywords. Once you have your articles, upload them to your site. Monitize your site with affiliate links and Adsense.

For this kind of niche site to be effective and make money, it is imperative that you get free traffic, and a lot of it. And that's exactly where a blog can be your best friend.

At its very simplest, a blog is just a structure. It's the bones of a web site. A blog is a simple way to publish and display your content online. Most of us think of blogs as a chronicle of news events, or commentary on news and items of interest. Or personal diaries.

Few people stop to think that you can build any kind of website with a blog. In reality, a blog can be used very effectively to build a niche site. The fact of the matter is, a blog is the easiest way to publish your niche site content. But the biggest reason to use a blog is that it can drive traffic to your site a lot faster than a statically-built site. A niche site built with a blog is a very powerful strategy.

First, choose your niche and research your keywords. Write your first article based on one of those keywords, just as you would when building a regular site. Then set up your blog and publish that article. Your niche site is now live.

To make your site structure the most effective, be sure to choose a blog that allows the use of Categories, such as Word Press or Moveable Type. Use your 10 most important keywords as the name of your Categories. Then file all your secondary keyword articles under those Categories.

Why is this so important? If you keep building your site with keyword-rich articles, eventually you could have hundreds of pages. Each of those pages will have a link to your 10 Categories. And each of those links will use the anchor text of your most important keywords. As a result of all those internal keyword-rich links, your site will end up ranking very well in the search engines for your Category names.

Now it's time to set up your traffic strategy. This is where a blog can really shine. There are many special RSS/blog directories that are hungry for feeds. By submitting your new blog to these directories, you can start getting traffic almost immediately. Quite often these feeds will result in a lot more traffic than all the major search engines combined. This is why it makes so much sense to build your niche site as a blog. You can have twice the traffic, and get it much faster than with a static site.

Here is a list of some of the top RSS/blog directories you should submit your site to:

Once you've submitted your site to the directories, you can get it indexed by Yahoo almost immediately by adding your RSS feed to your MyYahoo page. If you don't have a MyYahoo page, just go to http://www.yahoo.com. Now click on the MyYahoo link at the top and set up your free account. Once you have your account set up, click on Add Content, then add the URL of your blog RSS feed into the Find Content box.

When you go back to your MyYahoo page, your blog plus your first post should be shown. If you go look at your web stats for your site, you'll find that the Yahoo spider has already made a visit! Your new site should be indexed in Yahoo in just a couple of days. This is a strategy that some marketers were selling for $50 just a few months ago. And it works like a charm.

Every time you add a post, you can alert the RSS/blog directories by "pinging" them. There is a wonderful site at http://www.pingomatic.com that makes this very easy. You just have to type in your blog URL and Pingomatic will send your ping to Yahoo and about 15 other large directories. That will bring the spiders back to your site almost immediately!

During the first month, I would suggest that you write and add a new article every day. Blogs that are frequently updated get the most traffic. And you'll find that the major search engines will spider your site every day. At the end of a month, you'll have a 30-article niche site that is already getting a lot of traffic. If you've monetized your site with Adsense and related affiliate programs, you should also be making money already.

Once you've started building your niche sites with a blog, you'll never go back to doing it the old way again!

Understanding Affiliate Programs

Understanding Affiliate Programs

Affiliate programs are commonly misunderstood, in order to understand affiliate programs lets start with terminology. For clarification purposes, an affiliate is defined as any "referrer" or website that promotes a product in an effort to earn revenue. A merchant is defined as someone who owns a product and is sharing revenues with an affiliate based on the affiliate's performance. Affiliate programs can drive targeted traffic to your website.

There are 3 basic affiliate programs, though only the first two are commonly used.

Pay Per Click - this is when an affiliate is compensated for sending traffic to the merchant. (AdSense is an example of PPC affiliate program)

Pay Per Sale - this is when the affiliate is compensated by the merchant if the referral generates a sale or purchase.

Pay Per Lead - this is when the merchant agrees to pay for a qualified (or sometimes unqualified lead), which is very uncommon because it is subjective and up to the merchant.

Affiliate websites tend to provide information, entertainment, and content services to their customers. The online merchants sell products, goods and services online. These are programs permitting affiliates to earn money based on the visitors to your site who click through to another's website. Some pay a token amount for the click through and others provide a percentage of sales when a visitor "clicks through" to your site and buys a product or service on the other party's site. This could represent a value added service to your visitors.

Affiliate programs allow you to pay and track incentives from other websites that send web surfers, leads or paying customers to your website. Commissions based on purchases made by traffic sent from the referring website can be paid. Besides a commission, an affiliate can receive a flat fee, or other incentives for all valid transactions it refers that generate a sale or lead.

Be careful that the affiliate's web page is not cluttered with banner ads that may crowd out your link, or that be annoying to customers. Affiliate programs enable affiliates to leverage their traffic and customer base in order to profit from e-commerce while merchants benefit from increased exposure and sales.

Commonly traffic to merchant sites is measured and affiliates can clearly see conversion rates. Meaning, they track the percentage of people they are referring, and how much of it results in earned revenue. If the affiliate finds a very low conversion, they will find a better way to monetize that traffic, quite possibly with a competing merchant product.

In order to be a successful affiliate, the affiliate site needs to either have tons of traffic or target a specific audience, frequently one untapped by the merchant. It has been my experience, the closer the affiliate site content resembles the merchant products, the higher the likelihood of a good conversion rate.

Once you are committed to the idea of affiliates, the next step is to determine the kind of tracking system you are going to use. Sales can be tracked by HTML code, which is placed in a shopping cart or on the 'order confirmation'/'thank you' page, and cookies, which are created after the customers click on a banner ad. Cookie killers have been a problem for the affiliate industry. Software vendors have an advantage over other merchants in that new technologies allow software developers to better control compensation. Vendors can 'wrap' their software insuring that their affiliates are compensated for referrals, even if the customer downloads a trial version prior to purchasing. Buy now buttons in the software have affiliate ids imbedded in the download. Combined tracking systems have more success than those that rely on a single tracking technology.

In order to develop a successful affiliate network, merchants must realize that affiliates spend ad dollars on site, and product promotion. If the affiliate is not compensated fairly they will not remain in the merchants network. The bottom line is that affiliate relationships are partnerships, when both sides feel the situation is fair and equitable the relationship will be a success.

Marketing A Single Affiliate Program

"Marketing A Single Affiliate Program is the First Key to Success!"

“Marketing A Single Affiliate Program is the First Key to Success!”

There are a lot of affiliate marketing programs out there that claim to make you more money than you could possible spend; when in true reality, you’ve just sign up to be another person that the company can send you emails to buy their products!

Have you fallen for that kind of bait?
I have before! Hook, line, and sinker!!

Well the FIRST KEY to really making an affiliate program work for you is just by sticking with the one program you’ve signed up for. It gets quite easy to keep signing up for program after program in hopes that you will finally hit pay-dirt. What has happened is that now you are spread so thin in your ability to market a single program effectively.

Marketing A Single Affiliate Program is the First Key to Success because:

It would be in your best interest to really market only one program until you have made a successful amount of residual income from it before you go out and start marketing other programs. You should learn all there is to know about what kind of program you have joined first and see how others in that program are doing it. Learn what they do to become successful. Many programs offer coaches, partners, or loads of success oriented eBooks for you to read. Tackle all that stuff first until you get a grasp of what a successful affiliate marketer must do to make it to financial freedom.

Marketing A Single Affiliate Program is the First Key to Success because:

Like with most affiliate programs, the program will provide you with a viable URL (website) address in which you can send prospects and get them to go check out what you are offering. Your goal is to send tons of traffic to that site URL and then in turn change those visitors into paying customers; further, your goal is to turn those customers or visitors into a down-line group that will help you build an extra layer of residual income on top of your regular commissions.

Marketing A Single Affiliate Program is the First Key to Success because:

If you have signed up for multiple programs, then which program can you really promote like an expert? How can you be an expert when you have not mastered the first program you signed up for? For example, when I first got into affiliate marketing, I already had a ecommerce website and was looking for a way to ad some viable content to place in my website; and, I thought affiliating with a proven Internet Marketer would help; however, it seemed to get me farther away from my goals as possible. I was spending more time trying to learn what they were doing than in promoting my own website. I wasted time trying to get people to visit the affiliate’s website than in getting them to purchase from my website. My thinking was that if they would not buy from me then I would just get them over to the affiliate and make huge money like they promised I would make.

What a Mistake that was!!!!

Marketing a Single Affiliate Program is the First Key to Success because:

Step by step, a good affiliate program will lead you through to the mistakes and get you to market things in the right way. If you have your own website, then definitely you should spend 80% of your time marketing that site. Remember, you are the master of that site, so act like it. Promote it more than anything in the world. Look at yourself like you are the #1 affiliate in your own program. Do all the things necessary for that site’s success, and when you make a comfortable, dependable income from it, then go out and pursue a top-notch affiliate program to be associated with. Make sure the program is compatible with what you are selling. Don’t affiliate with a satellite website if you have a health website!! I tried it and the results were disastrous because I fell for the high payout from the affiliate and did not consider what type of customers I was attracting.

Marketing a Single Affiliate Program is the First Key to Success because:

Staying in tune with your Program and its target market takes a lot of time, work, and commitment on your part. If you are dedicated to the Affiliate’s mission, making the mission your mission too, then it is easier to succeed because you too will have all the answers to the customer’s questions and will better server those down-line associates that you have managed to sign-up under you. By signing up people underneath you, you’ve taken on the responsibility to direct those associates to a path of success, just like the path you were shown and are trying to emulate. Many programs I have signed-up for gave me good first initial contact, but then dropped the communication down to a level of buying some type of product or eBook from them. It seems they are only interested in getting you to buy stuff rather than truly help you to the next level of affiliate success.

The Key is to Market Only One Program or website until you have ‘fruit on the tree’ so to speak. If you get one apple, why not go for another apple rather than go looking for an orange or a pear. Stick with the tree that gave you the apple, and go back for more until the apples are falling in your direction regularly. How’s that for an analogy of Affiliate Marketing. Always read every step, every word, and learn every tool the Program you have elected to promote to ensure that you do know what you are doing and don’t fall into the trap of ‘Jack of All Trades, Master of None!’

Stick with it, and here’s to your success!!

Affiliate Marketing Billionaires?

Affiliate Marketing Billionaires?

Can the sky be truly the limit with affiliate marketing? Just how much can one affiliate marketing web site be worth?

Well, 2 British guys may well have set the bar at a new all-time high for the affiliate marketing industry. The
prestigious Sunday Times newspaper in London recently profiled the astonishing success of web entrepreneurs Duncan Cameron and Simon Nixon of www.MoneySupermarket.com. Their web site enables visitors to easily compare a massive range of
financial products such as credit cards, insurance and mortgages.

The UK-based entrepreneurs only started in the affiliate marketing business in 1999 and their business is now valued by the Sunday Times at an astonishing $925 million–Yes, you did read that correctly by the way, although I did fall off my chair when I read their real life true story.
This makes them near-billionaires, and achieved largely via affiliate marketing in less than 5 years! It also makes them probably the wealthiest affiliate marketers in the world today!

More importantly, what does their success tell us about the affiliate marketing industry and what can we learn from their astonishing level of success?

1. Clearly, there is a lot of money to be made in the Financial Services industry as an affiliate marketer. Credit card companies for example, pay huge commissions (from $30
up to $80 and more) for every successful card application
completed. This highlights the enormous potential of this niche.

2. Their site is easy to navigate and use, allowing the comparison of several related financial products at one time.

3. The site solves problems for people and provides easy solutions. It is designed for people who perhaps do not
spend too many hours surfing but need services like this one.

4. The web site "pre-sells" a massive range of financial products. "Pre-selling" has been a frequently used term in the affiliate marketing industry. The site gently informs
visitors of all the key details associated with any financial
product and allows visitors to make truly informed decisions.

5. It tells us that Affiliate Marketers like you and I can
compete with big companies in the financial services niche. Here are just a few affiliate marketing sites that I found today, each with tremendous Google rankings. I happen to know that each are all home-based or small independent businesses:

www.creditcardexpert.co.uk

www.canadiancreditcenter.com

www.credit-cards-comparison-charts.com

www.creditcards121.com

www.ccapplication.com

The amazing thing is that affiliate sites like those above often significantly outrank some of the biggest financial institutions in the world. That, more than anything else,
shows the power that can rest with the little guy or gal, working at home on their affiliate marketing business.

It is true that financial services is a highly competitive niche. However, this can also be viewed positively as it validates the business model. When I interviewed Colin M. in my Success
Alert book recently, I came to realize that he certainly viewed it this way. Colin M. is an example of a guy making a mere $250,000 each year just from one financial services affiliate web site based around credit cards.

So, should we all go out today and build ourselves a range of affiliate marketing web sites based around the financial services industry?

Well, the business model is certainly valid and clearly there is a lot of money to be made from this niche. However, the competition out there is fierce so be aware of this. Never
though, has the small business operator been able to so effectively compete with large corporations.

Perhaps more importantly though are the lessons of helping people find solutions to their problems and gently
pre-selling them all the way to an affiliate commission. This
approach can usefully be applied to any niche market in the full knowledge that it does work amazingly well. Honest and useful product reviews are always a massive benefit to potential buyers.

Maybe you don't want to end up like the www.moneysupermarket.com
guys but you can easily duplicate Colin M's success as profiled in my recent Success Alert book.

=>http://www.SuccessAlert.net/amazing Can the sky be truly the limit with affiliate marketing?

Getting Unlimited Traffic From Search Engines

Getting Unlimited Traffic From Search Engines

Search engines have become so intimidating lately - most people
think that search engines are just out to get them - everyone's
becoming afraid... They also think that getting #1 rankings
is near impossible.

Yes, if you're trying to trick search engines, THEN - they're
out to get you - BIG TIME.

BUT, if you're willing to work with them and help them,
then they can seriously be your business's best friend.

Here's how:

----------------------------------------
Writing Articles for Search Engines
----------------------------------------

Actually, you're writing articles for TWO people.

1. Search Engines
2. Your Potential Customers

. Why for Search Engines?

Because search engines love content, and it's that very content
that let's you invite traffic from search engines.

These articles help you optimize your website for search
engine rankings (more on this in a bit).

. Why for Potential Customers?

Because these articles are what your prospects are looking
for on search engines - they land on that page, find the
information they need and then see your "recommendation"
- aka affiliate link and they click, click BUY.

So, your articles eventually lead to sales and commission
for you.

So once again, the purpose of articles:

. Provide content/information for:
. Search Engines
. Potential customers
. Promoting traffic to your affiliate program

----------------------------------------
Optimizing your Articles with Keywords
----------------------------------------

We don't want to make your head spin here, so we'll try to keep
this AS simple as possible.

There are certain places you want to insert your keywords
when building an article webpage.

Here they are:

. The title of the page
. The Description META Tag
. The Keyword META Tag
. In your Headline, use HTML Tag <>< /h1 >
. Your first line of text
. Once or twice per paragraph
. Once/Twice in bold . In the text of a link

Some other tips:

. In your graphics - use keyword in HTML ALT tag . Use
a secondary keyword also - a few times

Some Cautions:

. Don't Overkill - repeating your keyword an obsense number
of times will not help you at all - it will hurt you.
. Never hide keywords - never.
. Nothing tricky - if it's tricky, don't do it.
. Don't have a LONG keyword META tag

The above is how most search engines determine how relevant
your webpage is to a specific keyword.

This is NOT the only element involved in search
engine optimization, however, it's one the most important.
The next strategy we're going to discuss is also critical -
for Google, especially.

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

You can learn a lot more about How to Dominate Search Engines
and also get Step by Step Instructions to turn that traffic
into $300.00, $600.00 or $900.00/month in residual
income at DominateSearchEngines.com

-----------------------------------
A Linking Strategy
-----------------------------------

Alright, now, we're going to discuss the one, quite possibly
most important element to ranking well in Google - the #
of incoming links.

Google has been giving more and more importance to what they
call their "PR" - short for Page Rank. The PR is based
on a scale of 1-10 and the higher it is, the more incoming
links you have.

The PR is determined by the number of INCOMING and OUTGOING
links you have. You should have the maximum number
of incoming links.

See, Google's theory is that by having a site link to you,
that website is basically "voting" for you - that site
is telling Google

"Hey, I like that website, it has good content, I feel
comfortable sending MY visitors there, so should you..."

The more sites that tell Google that, the more willing Google
is to send it's traffic.

So, bottom line, recruit incoming links.

----- How?-----

How did we know you're going to ask that million
dollar question?

Our answer is not that "great" -

"Just ask..."

Contact websites in your niche and ask them for a link exchange.

How to find these websites?

. Check the sites linking to your competition on Alexa.com

. Do a search on Google.com for your keyword and contact all
the relevant websites.

Send them an e-mail, call them, etc...and let them know what's
in it for them - a reciprocal link to help THEM with search
engine optimization as well.

NOTE: A linking strategy is VERY important if you want
any chance at making it to the Top 10 page on Google and
then staying there...
